Samsung Galaxy S6 Full Review... Is the Elegance worth it?

Hello People:

We have a lot of stories that if a company wants to survive the world of business than it has to listen to its customers and make products more user friendly. Well We can say this for Samsung now as well because Samsung is the only company which had no true metallic or glassy Smartphones while the rest of the competition was already very hot with Sony Xperia Z series, iPhones and HTC One Series. Late, yes Samsung is late to join the metallic generation of flagship Smartphones but it has certainly made a banging entry with the all new Samsung Galaxy S6.

Lets get the obvious on the side first. The phone is pretty amazing to look at, hold in hands as well as operate. It supports rounded sides made of Metal with brushed metal finish. For the back & the front it has Glass which looks amazing and is corning Gorilla glass. The phone is thin at 6.8 mm but has the metallic weight making it quite heavier than S5 but you will still need real dumbells if you want a workout as the phone is just 138 grms.

Speaking of the hardware, it comes with a super AMOLED screen of 5.1 inches with 4K resolution making it one of the first phones to have a pixel density of 577 ppi. Now lets dig deep, the phone comes with an Octa core Exynos chipsat and 3GB of RAM. Well as of the competition these specs are quite common among the flagships now.  At the back you will find a camera of 16 MP capable of capturing 4k videos and up the front it has a 5 MP selfie cam which has the talent to record a 1080p video and has sensors to clear out blurs and enhance low light performance. The only down fall how ever for this phone is its lack of External storage. Though Samsung has given enough space inside with varients of 32/64 and 128 GB but strict Samsung fanatics know what it means to have expandable storage.

Performance wise the phone scores impressive on every bench mark app you use. Here what we find for certain aspects in daily performance:

Screen:- Works as expected has fluid integration with the software package and supports multi touch. For day to day performance you may seem it lacks in image quality (in cinematic movies) but that is if you be very very picky about it.

CPU:- Performs very well indeed as it gets above 60000 Antutu benchmark anytime you check. The phone is very fast in daily performance but some heavy games and animation related or graphic rendering (image editing) 3rd party apps can feel jittery at times but that may be an issue with the app integration. Because of course not everybody has optimized the apps yet for S6.

Camera and Battery:- The main camera unit has a very good image stabilization features, low light management as well as beauty mode making it a shooter of choice among smartphones but as far as the video goes it may say 4k in properties but you will feel the video capture lacks capturing the details and auto focus is not much fast either. The front camera is a fabulous selfie cam making most of the shoots sharing friendly.
The battery is a 2550 mAh unit non replaceable giving a suitable performance for medium users while heavy users will have to find a place to charge it every other day.

Over all verdict, well if you have an S5 of another Flagship smartphone. Then the thought of the upgrade may be just for the aesthetic appeal. As for our own opinion if you are not interested in the latest metallic glassy design then you better stay with 2014 model as the performance may seem better on bench marks but it is just another flagship smartphone as daily driver. Recommendations yes we have them. If you want real change from Samsung then go for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge as it has more bang on the sides. Thanks for reading and take care.
